Program of Support to Young Researchers

June 13th, 2008

Within the framework of Estime Project (Evaluation of Scientific Technology and Innovation Capacities in Mediterranean countries), the Foundation organized a closed-door workshop to introduce and discuss a study entitled: Human and Social Sciences in the Maghreb: a Bibliometrical Attempt, conducted by the IRD in collaboration with the Foundation in November, 2007. The study deals with the social and human sciences in the Maghreb between 1980 and 2004 and is based on the catalog of the Foundation’s library.

May 31st - June 4th, 2008

In cooperation with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture and Information, the Foundation organized an exhibit of photographs and cartoons produced by Saudi women photographers. The event took place both at Venise Cadre and the Foundation’s headquarters.

May 23rd, 2008

The Association of the Friends of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco has initiated a series of meetings aiming at a better acquaintance with the condition of the national bibliometrical field. Each meeting gives the opportunity to a given institution to talk about its achievements, its projects and, if necessary, the questionings provoked by the achievement of its missions. The meeting which took place on May 23rd at the Foundation’s headquarters was dedicated to a synthetic talk on the Foundation’s acquisition policy, the status of the collections, the databases, the information system, the scientific activities, the publications, the budget and the staff.

In collaboration with King Abul-Aziz Al Saoud Foundation, the Universität Leipzig – Halle and the Center of Research in Social Sciences organized an open seminar entitled: Home and Globalization. The participants questioned the conceptualization of “home” and mobility and the notion of “home” itself.

May 9th -10th, 2008

In a tribute paid to Dr. Mohamed Sijelmassi and to his work, Mohamed Sijelmassi Foundation for the Promotion of Arts and Culture in Morocco organized in collaboration with King Abdul-Aziz Al Saud Foundation a colloquium entitled Morocco: Culture, Art and Memory: Crossed Looks at Mohamed Sijelmassi’s Work. The lectures attempted to approach Sijelmassi’s works and life from three perspectives: the author’s aesthetics; his work on heritage, culture and traditional arts as a human, editor and author and his contribution to the preservation and the transmission of the memory; the way he used to consider objects and life and the peculiarity of his approach.

April 25th - 26th, 2008

In commemoration of its 30th anniversary, the Islamic Christian Research Group organized, in partnership with the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, the French Embassy and King Abdul-Aziz Al Saoud Foundation, a colloquium entitled: Muslims and Christians: Today’s Images and Messages. The proceedings of Friday, April 25th took place at the headquarters of the National Library in Rabat. While the proceedings of Saturday, April 26th took place at the headquarters of King Abdul-Aziz Al Saoud Foundation in Casablanca. After an inaugural lecture on “Monotheisms and Historicity”, the conferences and round tables tackled very important issues such as conveying messages on the perceived and profound realities, Media perceptions and approaches to the issue of the religious and the aspects of its instrumentalization, the dynamics and ethics of dialogue, etc.

April 16th, 2008

Tawfik Mouline, CEO of the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies and assignment manager at the Royal Cabinet, responded to the invitation of King Abdul-Aziz Al Saoud Foundation and the Association of ONA’s Retired Executives to deliver, at the headquarters of the Foundation, a conference entitled: What Perspectives for the World and for Morocco by 2030? The conference assesses the economic, social, cultural and institutional achievements of Morocco while stressing the week points and main strengths and the need for Morocco to take advantage of globalization, that is to meet the conditions of success: a good training, rule of law, etc.

April 14th - 15th, 2008

In collaboration with King Abdul-Aziz Al Saoud Foundation and Cervantes Institute in Casablanca, the research group on the Andalusian manuscript of the School of Arts and Human Sciences, Ain Chock – Casablanca, organized an international colloquium entitled: Primavera internacional del manuscrito Andalusi. The colloquium’s proceedings took place at the conference rooms of the Foundation and the said School of Arts and Human Sciences and gathered a myriad of researchers and specialists in the Andalusian studies from Morocco, Spain and France. They discussed different aspects of the Andalusian manuscript: the condition of manuscripts in Andalusia and Spain, the maintenance and the conservation of the heritage of manuscripts, methodological issues related to the study of the Andalusian manuscripts, cases studies, etc.

April 5th, 2008

Maria Clara Lucchesi Palli, an Italian psychoanalyst, responded to the invitation of the Moroccan Psychoanalytic Society to deliver a conference, entitled: Phobia and Perversion, at the headquarters of King Abdul Aziz Al Saoud Foundation for Islamic Studies and Human Sciences. “Phobia and perversion question psychoanalysis. The comparison of two clinical examples sheds light on some aspects of their etiology, beyond the peculiarity of each individual story and each psychic reality”.

October 25th - 26th - 27th, 2007

In collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Foundation and with the support of the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action at the French Embassy and Jacques Berque Center, King Abdul-Aziz Al Saoud Foundation for Islamic Studies an Human Sciences organized an international colloquium on The Translation of Human and Social Sciences in Contemporary Arab World.
