The 23rd International Book Fair of Algiers – 23rd Edition
As every year, for nearly two decades, a team from the Acquisition Division attended the International Book Fair of Algiers in its 23rd edition, in order to purchase new Algerian publications. That was in accordance with the objectives defined by the Foundation’s documentary policy which aims to enrich its library with le most exhaustive and important Maghrebin collection in the world.
The team purchased 946 titles, including 25 journals acquired from 125 Algerian exhibitors (see the list below). These publications fall within the field of humanities and social sciences (64%) and literary works and studies (36%).
The language distribution of these publications confirms the heavy trend of Arabisation of Maghrebin publishing field in general, even if French resists more in Algeria with 34% whereas it does not reach 15% in Morocco (see the report on Publishing and Book in Morocco, 2016-2017).
