Professor Lotfi Bouchentouf, conference – debate on [the scholar and the Sultan, a study on the transition of government and the constituent of legitimacy]. "العالم والسلطان دراسة في انتقال الحكم ومقومات المشروعية"

The book of professor Lotfi Bouchentouf makes use of the archive of “nawazil” and “fatwa” to follow scholar’s attitudes toward the political and social changes, and locates those attitudes in their historical context by seeking their causes, origins, implications and connotations.

It is an attempt to discover the influence of scholars in periods of transition in Moroccan history, an it is reflected in the period of the Wattasid decline and the Saadians appearance in the 15^th and 16^th century.

This transition was accompanied by the investment of new symbolic resources of politics by abandoning the old model based on tribalism, to move closer to the model of the Islamic caliphate.
