The book of professor Lotfi Bouchentouf makes use of the archive of “nawazil” and “fatwa” to follow scholar’s attitudes toward the political and social changes, and locates those attitudes in their historical context by seeking their causes, origins, implications and connotations.
It is an attempt to discover the influence of scholars in periods of transition in Moroccan history, an it is reflected in the period of the Wattasid decline and the Saadians appearance in the 15th and 16th century.
This transition was accompanied by the investment of new symbolic resources of politics by abandoning the old model based on tribalism, to move closer to the model of the Islamic caliphate.
