Access to Collections

Monographs

Access to MonographsThe Foundation’s library adopts the open-access system to monographs. Accordingly, the reader can get monographs directly from the shelves and read them inside the reading rooms.
The library’s users can carry out a quick bibliographical by using the computers put at their disposal in the reading rooms and in the Foundation’s hall, or using the library’s on-line catalog from any external computer.
To get the needed documents, the reader only needs to take into account the marking system which precisely indicates the place where the documents are stored.
Readers can partly xerox documents in accordance with the copyright law. (see the xeroxing conditions)
Books are currently classified according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), but the library will very soon adopt the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).

Periodicals

Access to PeriodicalsThe collections of periodicals have been in open access for years. However, due to some detrimental practices of certain users, the library managers were obliged to reconsider the access conditions to all collections.
From then on, the user cannot consult any periodical without referring to the librarian in charge of the periodicals room so as to fill in a form with the full name, the date, the reader’s card number, the title of the periodical, the issue and the year of publication and the shelf mark. Yet, he cannot get the periodical until he submits an identity paper.
The adherent can get back his identity paper once he returns the periodical in good condition to the librarian.
In order to facilitate the bibliographical research, the Foundation has proceeded since 2002 to the digitation of the periodicals tables of content. Hence, the researcher may easily and quickly find the issue and the article in question.

The researcher may equally carry out a research, using the computers available at the reading rooms, on Academic Search Premier which contains the full texts of more than 6500 periodicals.

Microforms

MicroformsMicrofiches and microfilms are stored in closed access. The adherent cannot visualize them until he hands in his ID card  and fills in a form bearing his full name, the date, his reader’s card number, the title of the microform and its shelf mark. Two microforms readers and one microforms reader-printer are put at the disposal of the adherents at the reading room devoted to books of Law, Economics, Firms Management and Political Sciences (Building -A-, 1stfloor).

Cd-Roms

Access to Cd-RomsA Cd-Rom can be read only on a computer put at the disposal of the adherents in the hall of Building -B- ground floor for this particular use. Beforehand, the adherent must refer to the Reception Desk, ID card in hand. A librarian is in charge of helping him use the Cd-Rom and guiding him when need be.

Rare Books, Theses, Manuscripts and Lithographs

Access to Rare BooksA simple consultation of these documents necessitates the filling in of a form. A librarian is in charge of fetching the document in question and hand it to the adherent, this latter must in return submit his ID card and will not get it back unless he returns the document in good condition.

Theses cannot be xeroxed without the express written permission of the author. As for manuscripts, xeroxing them necessitates submitting a letter written by the researcher’s institution justifying the usefulness of this xeroxing. The Foundation can accept this request only if the condition of the manuscript allows xeroxing it.
