The contemporary world may be in a huge need of clarifications that sociology suggest, by looking at the major challenges facing it: a post-truth society, decline of political stability of democratic countries, the rise of populist politics… But this topic which has been trying since its inception to build a scientific knowledge, seems today to be in the grip of those who seek to transform it into a mere ‘tool’ of political frictions in the name of ‘social determinism’. This book is addressed to all those who are concerned by the intellectual misconduct of well-known figures in the fields of humanities and social sciences. Sociologists, like other researchers, are not immune to cognitive errors that can crowd them in the maze of extreme ideological narratives that may transform sociology into a kind of ideological struggle production.

This book sets off alarms bells to commit to the epistemological rules that govern scientific fields, and suggests to fill in various intellectual data, whether those produced by sociology or pure sciences, in order to enable non-specialists to know the basic issues inherent in the fields and practices of the social sciences.
